Prices (average): taxi from Athens to olympia will be cost around 230 euro, from katakolon port (a half day tour for cruise clients) cost 80-120 euro 1/4 persons.

You can tip the driver (but only if you want to) at a rate of 5 - 10% at your own discretion.

Online reservations Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. Be suspicious of emails or websites that originate from free email & web hosting services (yahoo, Googlepages, hotmail, gmail, aol, etc)

There are some taxi drivers who try getting popular with tricky methods (usually they use some popular forums as tripadvisor/cruisecritic
/cruisemates etc) where they post fake recommendations for their companies.

A taxi driver and a tour guide are not the same, a taxi driver by the Greek law can not guide inside the archaeological sites and museums. If you need a guide for your visit you need a licensed guide and a driver. A taxi service cover only the transfers and the waiting time.

11:15 - 12:15 the guided visit to the Museum of Olympia
(in the museum are kept & wonderfully exhibited some of the best preserved finds, found within the site that are well know works of ancient Greek art & especially of ancient Greek sculpture verifying in addition the ancient sanctuary’s wealth & glory in the past.)
12:15 - 13:00 Enjoy some free time for shopping within the quaint village of Olympia nearby before returning to katakolon port
13:00 leave from Olympia & drive to Katakolon port
13:30 arrive in Katakolon where you can have at your leisure as much time as you like for a nice lunch at any of the traditional restaurants by the water.

13:30 - 13:40 (optional for everyone who want continue the tour) - the guided visit to the Mercouri estate which has a long tradition in the production of wine, currants and olive oil. One of the family members shows you around at a leisurely pace before having the chance to sample the produce!
